Mehr als nur eine Tanzgruppe.

In Las Vegas, the shows are as spectacular and varied as the resorts that line the Strip. Take Las Vegas dance shows, for example. There are traditional dance revues. Showgirls dance shows. Hip-hop dance shows. Sexy dance shows. Family dance shows. Broadway dance shows. Heck, even a ballerina or two jetés her way around here occasionally. more...
Some have suggested that there are more Las Vegas dance shows here than you can shake an old soft shoe at.
The history of Las Vegas dance may well have started in Paris, France, where the bawdy beauties of the venerable Lido de Paris famously plied their trade. Known for their sexy personas as much as their considerable skills, it wasn't long before some crafty entertainment director lured them to our once dusty Mojave outpost.
It caused quite a stir in the early 1950s, when Strip casinos fought to make their shows as lavish - and as risqué - as possible. "French" shows suddenly came into vogue, with casinos continually vying to top each other. Long-legged beauties in huge headdresses and sparkling costumes high-kicked their way up and down the Strip. Thus was born the Showgirl, the unofficial ambassador and symbol of glamorous Las Vegas.
Originally, showgirls were elaborate set decorations, dancing around the headliners or in the background. It wasn't until later that the showgirls became the attraction and stars of the show. In the late 1950s, showgirls were front and center in Donn Arden's Lido de Paris at the Stardust, Jack Entratter's Copa Girls at the Sands, and Harold Minsky's Follies at the Desert Inn.
Today, Las Vegas dance shows are still vibrant, and more varied than ever. Shows like Pin Up and the many dance-heavy Cirque shows, still pack 'em in.
Apparently, those crafty entertainment directors knew what they were doing.
